Tuesday, 16 December Ari Mahardhika. This image is by an artist called Ari Mahardhika. He creates photo montages with him in different poses using a self-timer to take the pictures. He then edits the photos into one. The setting of this image is in the middle of the street with lots of buildings around it. Each photograph varies as Mahardhika places the miniatures in either everyday scenes or beside a humorously scaled up version of himself.
Mahardhika navigates his way through internal conversations attempting to understand himself as an individual and uses the photomontage as a tool to establish a relationship between the various aspects of himself. His use of digital manipulation is well practiced, which is not only apparent in the realism of his work, but in its overall message.

These artistic rebellions unknowingly gave birth to a movement in Indonesian art. I always visualize my work by drawing a sketch see below.
I tried to figure out how everything would work together as a scene, making notes on camera angles and lighting arrangements that would help to create the illusion that every single subject was taken at the same time. I wanted the final product to exhibit my Photoshop skills as well as some of my knowledge of photography. Figure 1.

Before and After Sketch Drawings. Figure 2. Lighting Schemes and Shadow Placement. It was important to get this right because it would be used as a reference for the subsequent images. Figure 3. Figure 4. Camera Angle and Position. Figure 5. Adding Reflections. I used Photoshop to process the images and create the montage. I opened the main image and copied it, creating a new layer.
Working on the copied layer, I used the Polygonal Lasso tool to trace the edges of the subject. I set Feather to 0 for a more accurate tracing.
